SHAODOW

ShaoDow (pronounced Sha-ow-dough) is the very definition of a DiY Artist. At age 18 he travelled alone to China in order to learn Shaolin Kung Fu.It was there that he discovered a true love for the art of music and lyricism. This love grew with him throughout his time in university. Graduating with a Law Degree he made the bold, albeit risky decision to become a full-time rapper and music business entrepreneur.Unwilling to wait for the industry to ‘discover’ him ShaoDow travels the entire UK on a daily basis selling his CDs, performing, promoting his music and turning DiY Gang Entertainment (his self run label and merchandise house) into a business most small record labels would envy.

Blessed with the Shaolin drive for success, ShaoDow has appeared in almost every major city from Bournemouth to Scotland and as far afield as Czech Republic, Thailand and France. He has sold over 16,000 copies of his CD’s on his own, just by talking to people, organically built the DiY Gang (his formidable fan base), accumulated over 500,000 total views on YouTube and found time to start an online advice series to help other aspiring artists. His music is as different as his journey, a multi-genre artist, ShaoDow is known for his intelligent, witty, often razor sharp lyricism mixed with hard hitting, bass driven, commercial sounding beats. His ability to rap on nearly any genre including; Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Rock, Grime, House and Jazz has helped him gain support and attention from Rap fans, Rock lovers and even people who have had no previous interest in Hip-Hop.Constantly striving for success, Shao has appeared on Tim Westwood’s radio show, had a song named 4th in Oxford’s top twenty list (after Radiohead in 3rd place), opened for the most successful independent rapper in the world ‘Tech N9ne’ at his first ever London show, successfully completed the self run ‘Blue and Purple’ 10 date UK tour, performed at Reading and Leeds Festival, toured in Thailand and independently released 5 Singles, 1 EPs, 2 Mixtapes and 2 Albums.

His latest album ‘Kung Fu Hustler’ really demonstrates Shao’s power as a truly independent artist. Within the first week the self released, self funded album had reached Number 31 in the iTunes Hip Hop Charts. Billed as a strong follow up to his 2012 album ‘Cut The BullSpit’ the 21 track album has delighted both old and new supporters across the world. If all that wasn’t enough, ShaoDow runs the DiY Gang Shop and has been kitting his supporters out in his original jumpers, t shirts, jackets and hats. One of his most popular items the revolutionary ‘DiY Gang Wireless Headphones’ come pre-loaded with his newest album and firmly places him as one of the first independent artists in the country to have his own headphones range. When it comes to live performances, ShaoDow has supported the likes of Chase & Status, Skepta, Chipmunk, Devlin, Akala, Giggs and was personally asked by Wiley to perform at the Manchester leg of his tour as well as at The O2 for Eskimo Dance.A professional and talented live artist, he has headlined the O2 Academy Oxford, upstaged headliners at Rock and Jazz nights, packed out tents at festivals and toured some of the biggest clubs the UK has to offer. With an unrivalled, high energy stage show and a bit of live Kung Fu ShaoDow is definitely not one to miss.At the heart of it all, ShaoDow is an independent artist with an unstoppable drive and passion for his art. Ultimately, he is proof of what you can achieve if you’re willing to get up, get out and Do It Yourself.
